Happy New Year! I hope you all had a fantastic evening, full of celebrations with your loved ones! We had an early night, but were up early this morning so that we could go to the bathtub race, at Poole Quay! We had never been before, but Dave found some information online, and we thought we’d give it a go!

The event was hilarious. All of the competitors are required to build their vessel from a bathtub(s), but can freestyle it after that, from what we gather. The rules appeared to be pretty slack, but there was a big fight before the race, with all of the competitors throwing eggs and flour at each other, and trying to capsize the other boats, before everyone lined up for a race. There were all kinds of tubs, including Doctor Who (complete with Dalek and Cybermen), the Jamaican Bobsleigh Team, Titanic, and quite a few Santas and Elves. I don’t know why anyone would volunteer to get soaked in a freezing cold harbour on the 1st January, but it must be the best hangover cure on the planet! Saying that, a number of the crew members were drinking as they went haha.
