A Belated Merry Christmas

Just checking in to say that I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas. I haven’t had chance til now to actually post anything (I did mention it on Facebook), so for anyone reading here who doesn’t use Facebook, I hope you had the best time!

We had our usual fab time. December as a whole has been really hectic.

I kicked off the month with my Christmas Fayre! I really wish that I had had the time to share more of the prep for this, but I really focused on putting together as much stock as I could, with some variety. It was a fun couple of hours on the day…

I had some help from my lovely friend Fiona, who kindly came early with me and helped me (and others) to set up tables. There was a lot of variety at the fayre, and I’m looking forward to taking part in the summer one, in June! I am already thinking about what I will make!

After the fayre, I had some time off from 8th-16th, which I used to wrap our Christmas presents and finish last preparations. Aside from doing that, I also managed to tick something off my bucket list – I went to War of the Worlds at the BIC in Bournemouth!

Again, I went with Fiona, who was absolutely amazing. My anxiety was acting up an absolute treat, and I really struggled to get through the first half an hour or so. Once I settled down I was fine though and despite feeling anxious, I had the best time. One of the best nights of my life! And I finally got to see Jason Donovan, who did not disappoint! This has been on my list for so long, and when Fiona and I saw that it was coming to Bournemouth, we decided to go. WOTW has found itself a new fan in Fiona as well!

My week off did involve popping into work on the Friday, but only for our annual fish and chip lunch, and Christmas games. It was Save The Children’s Christmas Jumper Day as well, so everyone looked fab! We managed to raise £70 for Cash For Kids (who give presents to children who otherwise won’t get one at Christmas) and further money, which I am yet to count, for Save The Children. A good day!

There was then the week in the lead up to Christmas. It was surprisingly quiet at work…busy but not how it has felt in previous years, so that was good. It was a shame that Christmas fell where it did this year, because we had to open on the Monday (Christmas Eve), and then obviously got the two days off before going back to work on the Thursday, which made it a pretty disjointed week! This week will be the same though, with New Year.

Christmas Day itself was lovely! I managed to make a really delicious lunch (my best yet, I think). It took a while but it was definitely worth it!

We were both given some really lovely gifts as well. Dave, in particular, gave me some lovely presents – including a War of the Worlds vinyl in a frame (I have wanted to put some vinyl on the walls for ages, of albums that mean something to us both). He also gave me some really scrummy yarn, including two cakes of Scheepjes Whirl, which I am saving for a throw to put in our new kitchen…on the sofa that we haven’t found yet! Anyway, we both had a lovely day just the two of us relaxing and getting over lots of hard work in the last few months.

Boxing Day brought family time! We did our usual and started the day at my Grandparents’, which is about 45mins drive away from Poole. We spent a little while with them, and then moved on to my parents’ in Dorchester, where my Dad decided to cook a BBQ for lunch! I love my family – I don’t think many others in the UK would’ve had BBQ on 26th December!

After a few hours eating and opening presents with my family, we headed out on the last leg of our journey to Dave’s parents in Wool where we enjoyed a buffet dinner and more gifts, before heading back home to Poole. A tiring but rewarding day!

I then had to go back to work the next day and finish off the week. I’m working again tomorrow but then get New Years Day off, so it’s another disjointed week but will be over quickly I suppose. It’s been an amazing Christmas though, and I’m so glad to have spent it with all of my loved ones.

What’s next? Hopefully more crochet! I have actually done loads in the time that I haven’t been updating here – that’s what has kept me distracted! But next year I intend to keep everything a bit more up to date and keep you all in the loop. I’ll be working towards the summer fayre, so looking forward to making some new bits for that. Also need to get everything back on the shop again for the New Year. I’ll try and do a proper round up of 2018 and set some proper goals, and also reflect, on New Years Day, when I am off. Anyway I hope you all enjoyed that non-crochet related post. I am still very much alive and active, just been crazy distracted!
